A 35-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death at Malathalli in Jnanabharathi on Friday afternoon.

Around 12.30 p.m., T.C. Raja, who is named in over a dozen criminal cases, was headed to a private clinic in an autorickshaw when he was attacked by a heavily-armed gang of 10. They came in a car, dragged him out of the auto and killed him while passers-by could only watch in horror.

Raja died on the spot. Autorickshaw driver Suresh was also injured when he tried to intervene.

According to the police, Raja was suffering from serious health ailments for the last four years. He had been in and out of hospitals, said the police.

“We are gathering information about the attackers,” said a senior police officer.
