Members of various Left wing groups from across the State staged a protest against the “anti-national activities” of Sri Rama Sene, at the Town Hall here on Saturday.
The protest was held in the wake of the arrest of members of the sene in Sindagi for allegedly hoisting a Pakistani flag at the tahsildar's office on January 1.
Intellectuals and writers such as K. Marulasiddappa and J.H. Narayanaswamy spoke at the event.
Mr. Marulasiddappa said that the politics of the sene was “distinctly anti-people and threatens the secular fabric of the country”.
‘BJP is soft on them'
Vimala of the All-India Democratic Women's Association said: “This is not just a one-off incident. The BJP Government is soft on these organisations. In fact, it is patronising these very organisations.”
Members of the Social Democratic Party of India, the Komusouhrida Vedike and the Democratic Youth Federation of India, among others, participated.
