Amendment to land acquisition Act opposed

January 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - BENGALURU:

A.H. Vishwanath, former MP, has opposed the NDA government’s latest ordinance to amend the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

He has appealed to the public and farmers to oppose the move, saying it would harm the interests of farmers.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Vishwanath said the Union government’s decision to amend the law through the ordinance route would favour the interests of corporates and real-estate barons. A Statewide postcard campaign would be launched opposing the move and it would be submitted to the President, he added.

Mr. Vishwanath also called upon Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to raise his voice against the Union government in this regard.
