The wife of a television actor, who died a week ago in a road accident, allegedly murdered their 13-year-old son and then ended her life, in Doddaballapur on Thursday morning. The woman has been identified as Meena, wife of actor and television anchor Chandan.
Chandan died in a road accident near Harihar in Davangere district. The Doddaballapur police suspect that Meena, 38, had not recovered from the death of her husband.
They registered a case after Chandan’s brother Shivakumar filed a complaint.
“Meena’s relatives and family members, including her father and brother, were worried that she would harm herself. They were staying with her and her son in their house in Someshwara Layout in Doddaballapur for the past one week,” said the police.
On Thursday morning, Meena allegedly slit her son’s throat with a knife and then consumed acid. She was admitted to Victoria Hospital where she died on Thursday night.
