With the release of Kabali days away, Rajini jokes are back again. One prominent joke doing the rounds on social media is about companies in Bengaluru and Chennai declaring a holiday on 22 July, the release day: Salman Khan releases his movie on Eid because it is a holiday. Rajinikanth releases his movie and it becomes a holiday .

Akhil Gupta, co-founder of a start-up in the city, gave his 40 employees a holiday on Friday. He says he was "tricked" into the deal by an RJ from a popular radio station, who called him on radio with the request. "Well, a lot of us at office are Rajinikanth fans and keen to catch the film, but tickets are difficult to get," he said.

After the news was out, a lot more Bengalureans decided to try their luck.

"Today we have received plenty of requests asking 'can you call our boss', but we don't know if we should take it up. Maybe if a lot of people ask, we'll think about it. Nearly 15 to 20 people rang us up with requests today," said RJ Sriram Sullia.

Special cover release

The Department of Posts is releasing a 'special carrier cover' to mark the special aircraft that will fly fans from Bengaluru to Chennai on July 22. The Karnataka Postal Circle and Chennai City Region of the department have joined hands with Air Asia for the initiative.

“The carrier covers will bear the postmarks of Bengaluru and Chennai airport post offices,” said Thimmoji Rao, Assistant Superintendent, General Post Office. Limited editions will be subsequently available at Philatelic Bureau Bengaluru GPO and Anna Road Head Post Office, Chennai.
