Two drivers assaulted by policemen

Two incidents of police assaulting drivers have been reported here on Tuesday.

Basanth Kumar, a BMTC driver, sustained minor injuries after a constable, Siddaiah, allegedly slapped him in full public view in Chamarajpet. A case has been registered against the constable attached to the Chamarajapet traffic police station.

According to Basanth Kumar, the accused boarded the bus on Sunday and refused to buy a ticket. “He was in plain clothes and refused to show the identity card. Following this an altercation took place. Passengers forced him to alight near Kwality biscuit factory stop,” Mr. Kumar said in his compliant.

The accused constable stopped the bus near Chamarajpet on Tuesday and slapped the driver. Later he made all passengers alight from the bus and took the vehicle to the Chamarajpet traffic police station. Later he assaulted Mr. Kumar in front of his colleagues, the complaint said.

Injured

Anjan Reddy, a Meru Cab driver, sustained injuries near his eyes after a constable hit him with a wireless equipment near Hebbal here on Tuesday. According to Mr. Reddy, the constable hit him when he reportedly jumped a traffic signal.
