Man thrashed by mob for allegedly misbehaving with woman

An unidentified man was thrashed by angry mob in Jaraganahalli on Tuesday night for allegedly harassing a woman.

By the time police received the information and rushed to the spot, he was severely beaten by the mob and was unable to reveal his identity. He was rushed to NIMHANS where he is recovering.

“We are waiting for his recovery to get the facts. He was bashed up so badly that his mouth was swollen and he could not talk”, a senior police officer said.

Taking a strong objection to the incident, the JP Nagar police have taken up a case against the mob for taking law into their hands. “We have questioned few eye-witnesses who do not even know why the man was beaten up. While some says he tried to rob a chain from a woman, the others says he was caught teasing a woman passing by”, the police officer added.

Police suspect that the mob might have been influenced by the recent Rohtak harassment incident where two sisters fought back against harassment. People have started reacting without confirming facts, the senior police officer said.

The police are waiting for the man’s recovery to ascertain whether he is really involved in the alleged crime.
