MEA to get on LinkedIn

Soon, the Ministry of External Affairs will have a presence on LinkedIn. It has accepted a recommendation by a panel to study how social media can be leveraged to connect with the diaspora. Currently, the MEA is active on Twitter, WhatsApp and Facebook.

Suggestions have also been made for the ministry to be present on Snapchat as well to connect with the young Indian diaspora. The MEA has also been told to study the demographic and psychographic analysis of its followers, and also target the 65-plus age group that is now getting familiar with social media platforms. “The 65-plus group could be excellent ambassadors for the country,” the panel felt.
