Drunk driver detained, seventh case in a week

Continuing the special drive against school buses, the R.T. Nagar traffic police caught driver of Vivekananda School van in Yelahanka, who was ferrying children to school in an inebriated state.

The accused, identified as Sheik Mukhtiyar, was caught near CBI junction. The police conducted alcometre test and found that the alcohol content was 78 per cent over the permissible limits.

The driver was detained and the school management was asked to send another vehicle to ferry the children to school. The police also seized his vehicle and driving licence. A case has been registered.

This is seventh such case booked in the last one week.
