Under the grey, overcast skies, Bellandur lake continued to froth heavily on Saturday, spewing white clouds in the air.
And walking through the frothy road next to the lake, were at least a dozen people, all “local tourists” who wanted to experience the foam first-hand. Armed with cameras, they used the bandh holiday to travel from different parts of the city to see Bengaluru’s most infamous lake.
“I want to go play in the lake but my grandfather isn’t allowing me,” said Nikith R. Oblivious to the toxic waste spraying on their faces, many were clicking photos of this phenomenon.
Meanwhile, residents living near the lake are tired of complaining about the civic body’s inaction over the situation. Many reported that the lake had started foaming more since Friday’s rain. “The foam spills on the roads and on vehicles, making it very difficult for us, and we have started to get skin allergies,” said Devaraj, a resident.
The “tourists”, however, continued walking through the foam.
