BBMP’s IT workforce to go off work today

You may not be able to get help from BBMP citizen service centres on Friday as computer operators of the civic body have threatened to go on a one-day strike.

BBMP Computer Operators Union is seeking timely wages and payment of arrears.

G.K. Palaniswamy, president of the union said the 464 strong workforce is a neglected lot and are not being paid even minimum wages of Rs. 8,432. “We are being paid Rs. 7,412. Moreover, we are not paid even salaries on time every month. They have also discontinued providing us transport allowance, which should be restarted immediately along with paying arriers of transport allowance,” he said.
