The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday criticised the police high-handedness against CITU leaders who had launched a fast in front of the Mico Bosch factory's Naganathapura plant.
CITU State president V.J.K. Nair told The Hindu that the factory union members headed by its president and CITU State unit secretary Prasanna Kumar had launched a fast on Monday.
Within 24 hours of launching the strike, the government, using the police, got the leaders arrested and admitted them to Victoria Hospital.
