The Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) and counsel for the convicts completed arguments before the Karnataka High Court on Friday in appeals filed by AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa and three others challenging their conviction in the disproportionate assets case.

Justice C.R. Kumaraswamy, who has been hearing the appeals since January 5, adjourned the proceedings to Monday, as SPP G. Bhavani Singh told the court that BJP leader Subramanian Swamy was likely to submit his written statement on Monday.

The court had permitted Dr. Swamy to assist the SPP and file the statement. Earlier, Mr. Singh, who continued reading the deposition of some of the witnesses and the verdicts of the trial court for the sixth day, concluded his oral submissions in the pre-lunch session.

In the post lunch session, he submitted the synopsis of his arguments in around 140 pages, supporting the conviction and the sentence imposed by the Special Court on Jayalalithaa, V.K. Sasikala, V.N. Sudhakaran and J. Ilavarasi.
