65-year-old killed in hit-and-run accident

A sexagenarian was killed in a hit-and-run accident by an unidentified vehicle on Bengaluru’s Mysore Road on Wednesday late night.

The incident came to light when commuters discovered a profusely bleeding man on the Main Road and immediately rushed him to a nearby Private Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Vrushabhendrappa, 65, from Kollegala. Police are yet to ascertain as to why Vrushabhendrappa had come to Bengaluru and was in the area where the accident occurred. He was trying to cross the busy Mysore Road when an unidentified vehicle, which police suspect an SUV, knocked him and sped off.

Byatarayanapura Traffic police have registered a case and are further probing into the matter. They are analysing the CCTV footage from the nearby traffic cameras in an attempt to identify the vehicle involved in the accident.
