35 get scholarship to study social sciences

As many as 35 students have qualified for receiving scholarships under the Social Science Talent Search Scheme (SSTSS) initiated by the collaborative efforts of the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore University, Christ University, and Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT).

Students selected will receive scholarship of Rs. 500 per month for three years while they pursue BA degree.

ISEC conducted the qualifying examination in February 2015.

In a release, ISEC said that scholarships are awarded to students to attract talented youth to social sciences.

Students who have cleared the test will be eligible for receiving scholarship being offered by the Bangalore University if they pursue BA course in any of the colleges under the Bangalore division.

And 10 students who take up the course in Christ University will be offered Rs. 500 a month for three years.

However, all 35 students who have qualified for the scholarship are required to participate in two orientation programmes that ISEC will conduct every year in August and January.
