Three youths from J.C. Nagar assaulted at Gauribidanur farmhouse over financial row

The city police and their Gauribidanur counterparts, early on Tuesday morning, arrested a group of 21 persons, who abducted three youths from J.C. Nagar over a financial row on Monday night. The group had taken the abducted youth - Noor Ahmed, Mubasshir and Saleem - to a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city and assaulted them.

While Noor Ahmed (22) succumbed to injuries, Mubasshir and Saleem were severely injured by the time they were rescued by the police.

The police said Noor Ahmed, a resident of J.C. Nagar and a small-time businessman, had lent Rs. 5 lakh to Junaid, his acquaintance, a few months ago. When Junaid refused to return the money, Noor Ahmed took away his car and even humiliated him in front of others.

Junaid decided to avenge his humiliation. On Monday evening, he called Noor Ahmed to a place in J.C. Nagar on the pretext of returning the money. Noor Ahmed went to the meeting along with his friends Mubasshir and Saleem. The police claimed that Junaid was waiting at the place with 20 associates. They threatened Noor, Mubasshir and Saleem with lethal weapons and abducted them. They took them to a farmhouse in Gauribidanur that belonged to Junaid's friend, locked them up and assaulted them.

Since Noor Ahmed did not return home and his phone was switched off, his worried family filed a missing complaint with the R.T. Nagar police. Based on their complaint, the police tracked the mobile number to the city’s outskirts and alerted their counterparts in Gauribidanur.

Police sub-inspector Avinash, along with three of his staff who were on night rounds, noticed a SUV moving suspiciously and rounded up the accused. A few accused had come out to buy food for the others when they were caught. Based on their information, the police raided the farm and rescued Noor Ahmed, Mubasshir and Saleem, who were unconscious. They were shifted to a hospital, where Noor Ahmed succumbed to injuries.

Saleem and Mubasshir, who have sustained multiple injuries, have been shifted to Victoria Hospital, said Chetan Singh Rathor, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

The accused have been taken into custody. The police have seized two SUVs and lethal weapons from the accused. Further investigations are on.
