Two dialysis units have been set up at the government hospitals in Ambur and Gudiyatham.
On Tuesday, Collector S.A. Raman inaugurated the two dialysis units at Ambur and Gudiyatham Government Hospital.
Each unit has one dialysis machine that has been installed at a cost of ₹7.5 lakh with funding from the National Health Mission, according to E. Kalivaradhan, joint director of medical and rural health services, Vellore.

At Ambur GH, a building to house the Intensive Medical Care Unit has been constructed at a cost of ₹30 lakh. The fund was allotted by the Member of Legislative Assembly of Ambur, R. Balasubramani, from the constituency development scheme.
The two hospitals have also won ‘Kayakalp awards’ for maintaining cleanliness on the premises. On the occasion, the Collector also launched the ‘Amma Arogya Thittam at the hospitals under which any person aged above 30 years can undergo general health check up, he added.
Dr. Kalivaradhan added that another dialysis unit is getting ready at the Tirupattur Government Hospital and will be inaugurated soon.
