Zone to nurture entrepreneurial skill

May 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

If you have an innovative idea and intend to convert it into a full-fledged business, here is a chance to groom your entrepreneurial skills and follow your dream.

Putting together six programme modules, each integrated with hands-on experiential learning by connecting the students to industry and entrepreneur mentors, The Entrepreneur Zone (TEZ), a unit of Zen SkillProc Private Limited, is gearing up to cater to aspiring students of Visakhapatnam.

Hyderabad-based TEZ, an entrepreneurship development and incubation centre, focuses on equipping the budding entrepreneurs to explore a world of opportunities.

“The four-year-old centre was earlier confined to only skill development programmes. With the boom for startups catching up gradually across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, we wanted to provide an avenue for those who like to become entrepreneurs,” explains Nandita Sethi, Director and Head of Academics of TEZ.

Combining a couple of subjects in each module along with an internship programme, the six-month-long programme includes topics such as developing breakthrough products, understanding the market dynamics, early-stage capital and entrepreneurial finance, operations and production management, business environment - regulatory laws and taxes, self-management and soft skill development, along with a host of other training sessions.

According to representatives of TEZ, steps to introduce the course either as a standalone programme or as an integrated course by partnering with the local colleges will be sorted out shortly.

“To tap the local potential and to help them connect with their own network, we intend to launch the course in the city. In future, depending on the response, we might also launch a centre in Vizag,” adds Dr. Nandita.

Entrepreneurship cells

She said that colleges should focus more on setting up entrepreneurship cells rather than placement cells. To encourage more participation in the course, women will be given special preference.

For admission details and counselling, interested candidates can contact Timex Academy, the local contact point, by dialling 0891-6054333 or 9640802248.
