The young delegates, who attended the ‘Yuva Tarangam' programme, organised by the Telugu Desam Party here on Wednesday, were in an upbeat mood.

They arrived in good numbers from East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts much before the arrival of the party president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

They were seen religiously filling the forms given to them to elicit their views on entry of youths into politics. Though the party leaders had said that the convention was meant for those below 35 years of age, many who were 40 or above were also seen filling the forms.

They were visibly impressed by the hour-long speech of Mr. Naidu and burst into claps whenever he referred to youth power and the measures taken by the Telugu Desam for their welfare. They were also full of hope that the TDP President would ensure a greater role for youth in the party in future.

Ch. Vijay, son of TDP rural district president Ayyanna Patrudu, recalled the immense contribution made by Mr. Naidu to the promotion of Information Technology, which had resulted in a number of youths getting either direct or indirect employment.

Students of Andhra University lashed out at the Congress for neglecting the welfare of students.
