A novel programme was organised by the Visakha Container Terminal Private Limited (VCTPL) on the eve of World Environment Day on Tuesday.

In tune with the World Environment Day theme: Think, eat and save, which is a call for prevention of wastage of food, employees of the company were encouraged to skip-a-lunch voluntarily so that it could be donated to orphan and streetchildren, who are deprived of proper food. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the PAPA Home, whose children will be served one good meal on the occasion. VCTPL will also organise environmental quiz, slogan competition and painting competition and a tree plantation drive within the terminal on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Operating Officer Sushil Mulchandani commended the participants and the HSE department for the initiative. Senior Vice President R. Ravi Kumar cautioned the employees that the rotting of waste food would generate methane gas that causes global warming.
