A major fire broke out in a cinema theatre complex in Gajuwaka area of Visakhapatnam early on Monday and completely gutted two theatres. There were no casualties.

The complex has three theatres, Sreekanya in the ground floor and Kanya and Heaven in the first floor.

Both Kanya and Heaven were gutted in the fire, which apparently occured due to a short circuit.

According to the District Fire Officer, Mr. Ramprakash, the department received a call around 6.50 a.m. and within 10 minutes three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control within an hour.

Since the fire broke out in the early hours, there were no workers or moviegoers present at the theatre. The damage is yet to be estimated.
