Tributes paid to Vempati Chinna Satyam

Various dance organisations gathered to pay tributes to Kuchipudi maestro Vempati Chinna Satyam at Prema Samajam here on Sunday.

Nataraj Music and Dance Academy founder Bathina Vikram Goud recalled the relentless efforts made by Vempati Chinna Satyam for getting international recognition for dance and classical dance status from the government and the Central Sangeet Natak Akademy. He demanded that the highest civilian honour ‘Bharat Ratna’ be conferred on him posthumously and his birth anniversary declared as Telugu Dance Day. Dance teacher K.V. Lakshmi and Lalit Kumar Gupta spoke. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari condoled the death of ‘Natya Guru’ Vempati China Satyam. In another message, Minister for Ports, Airports, and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao expressed grief over the demise of the legendary Kuchipudi dancer.
