Footpaths are a pathetic sight in several parts of the city. They have been cleared of encroachments on some of the thoroughfares but if a footpath itself is in bad shape, using it is out of the question.
The turning from Tycoon Hotel on VIP Road towards Siripuram is a case in point. A few blocks are haphazardly placed probably to help operate some water valve. A tangle of cable lines dangling poses danger to even those driving vehicles.
With vehicles taking a free left towards Siripuram, pedestrians will be in a safe zone walking on the footpath.
But the bad shape of the footpath gives no choice to pedestrians.
With the big plan to give a facelift to footpaths and beautify them ahead of the International Fleet Review, they might be spic and span by then.
But the question is does one have to wait till big things happen for small repairs?
