Top honours for Kadapa in SSC examination

Kadapa district bagged top honours in the SSC examination by registering a pass percentage of 98.54, followed by East Godavari with 96.75 in the results that were declared by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao here on Wednesday.

Chittoor, which topped in the undivided State in 2013, slipped to the bottom of the table now with a pass percentage of 71.29. Visakhapatnam stood ninth with a pass percentage of 91.76. In all, 6,06,575 regular students appeared for the examination. The overall pass percentage was 91.42, which was 0.6 per cent more than the previous year’s. Girls, with a pass percentage of 91.71, continued to do better than boys (91.15), Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.

This year too girls fared better than boys in both the SSC and Intermediate examinations in both AP and Telangana. Improvement in the pass percentage was due to continuous monitoring by teachers, the Minister claimed.

As many as 2,055 out of 5,189 private schools in the State recorded 100 per cent pass. They were followed by 1,105 (4366) ZP schools; 124 (233) A P Gurukula Schools; 54 (153) A P SW Gurukula Schools; 62 (148) AP Tribal Welfare Gurukula Schools; 20 (313) municipal schools, and 80 (432) aided schools.

Little Angels School in Srikakulam district was the only school to record a zero pass percentage. The advanced supplementary examination will commence on June 18. The last date for payment of fee is June 2. Principal Secretary (School Education) R.P. Sisodia, Commissioner (School Education) K. Sandhya Rani, DG of Government Examinations R. Surender Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University G.S.N. Raju, and Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao were present.
