Tele radiology to be introduced in AMC, KGH

Tele radiology facility is being introduced in the Radiology Department of Andhra Medical College and King George Hospital here as a pilot project of the Central Government, its HoD P. Bujji Babu informed on Thursday.

“This facility would provide extended services of radiology to small towns. Doctors in small towns and other places would get the patient undergo X-Ray examination and the image of X-Ray would be sent to the department through Internet. Doctors of the department would analyse and given their opinion,” Dr. Bujji Babu explained. “Software for the facility is being developed by the National Informatics Centre and KGH is the partner of the pilot project,” he said.

“While this is being introduced in Government hospitals, private hospitals are already using the facility,” radiologist and secretary of the organising committee of first conference of AP State chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association V. Suresh said. “Indian radiologists enjoy good reputation and institutions in the U.S., the U.K., Sri Lanka, West Indies and some other countries get their opinion,” he said.
