Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is leading in the ‘Citizen Feedback’ category by receiving feedback from maximum number of people among other Urban Local Bodies (ULB) in the country in the Swachh Survekshan-2022 survey so far.
According to the GVMC Chief Medical and Health Officer K.S.L.G. Sastry, the ‘Citizen Feedback’ category was started during mid March. By the end of March, about 1.30 lakh people from Visakhapatnam have given their feedback so far. South Delhi and New Delhi municipal corporations follow Visakhapatnam with around 85,000 votes and 70,000 votes respectively, he said. April 15 is the last date to gather citizen feedback votes for the ULBs and effort is on to collect feedback from maximum number of people, he added.
A citizen can participate in the Citizen Feedback either through Swachh Survekshan website or official app, where he/she needs to provide their details and answer several questions regarding cleanliness, ongoing SS survey and garbage collection. Ever since the feedback was opened for public participation, GVMC has started massive campaign. The civic body has utilised the secretariat staff for creating awareness and involve people in the survey. During his ward visits, GVMC Commissioner G. Lakshmisha himself encouraged people to participate in the feedback.
“We have used various modes to create awareness on the SS 2022 and Citizen Feedback. Students, elderly people and people from all walks of life are participating with the help of Resident Welfare Associations, organisations and Swachh Brand Ambassdors. This year, we have also arranged bar code readers at shopping malls and several stores, so that people can just scan the code and participate in the survey,” said Mr. Sastry.
Even during the SS 2021, GVMC has made a progressive growth in the ‘Citizen Feedback’ category. The corporation officials are planning to get another 10 lakh votes in the coming two weeks by involving a large number of people. Sources from the GVMC said that already a team from the Centre has come to Visakhapatnam for inspection as part of SS-2022.
