October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The VUDA Central Park, which is coming up on the old Central Jail premises, would be developed in public-private partnership mode and a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the purpose would be formed within a month.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the VUDA’s activities here on Friday, directed the officials to float tenders to identify the private partner for the project to develop and operate it with high standards.

He approved the design for the Ravindra Bharati-like cultural complex to be built by VUDA on 1.6-acre site in MVP Colony.

He directed the officials to increase its capacity from 900 to 1,500 seats.

He wanted the capacity of the convention centre coming up at Madhurawada to be increased to 10,000.

Earlier, he held discussions with Union Textile Secretary S.K. Panda and Joint Secretary Pushpa Subrahmanyam on the proposed apparel parks in the State. The Chief Minister asked all the people’s representatives to attend the foundation-laying ceremony of the capital city Amaravati, and said that invitations would be sent to each one of them.
