RINL unveils green agenda

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited Director (commercial) T.K. Chand on Saturday launched ‘Koti Vriksha Ropana' – a special drive to plant one crore saplings. He planted a sapling to mark the launch of the campaign at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ukkunagaram compound.

Sri Amma Bhagavan Seva Sangham, Ukkunagaram was associated with the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chand said tree plantation was part of people's movement in serving mother earth and urged the students to plant a tree to be named after their ancestors. He said that RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, was always attaching importance to tree plantation right from its establishment. Kendriya Vidyalaya principal Radha Mahalaxmi explained about the importance of the programme and appreciated the organisers for choosing KV for launching it. KV vice-principal Preethi Roy Chand asked the students to be united in creating green earth and advised students to follow Dr. Abdul Kalam's call ‘each one - plant one'.
