RINL bags awards for energy management initiatives

The achievement comes for the third consecutive year

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) has been adjudged as the ‘National Energy Leader’, apart from bagging ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award’ for the third consecutive year since 2017.

The awards instituted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Godrej Green Business Centre at the 20th National Competition for Excellence in Energy Management held in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

RINL CMD P. K. Rath congratulated the employees for the achievement and exhorted them to implement additional measures to achieve the international benchmarks in energy consumption.

Conservation measures

The ‘National Energy Leader’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ awards were conferred on the RINL for consistent and progressive performance in energy management, excellent efforts towards energy conservation, overall specific energy consumption reduction, implementation of energy conservation technologies (such as PCI in blast furnaces, commissioning of COB-5 turbine), energy management system (ISO: 50001), benchmarking, roadmap to reduce energy conservation projects and waste recycling.

The awards were received by DGM (EMD) in-charge S. K. Nayak, DGM(O)- EMD K. Sudhakar and Manager (M)-TPP K. Brahmeswara Rao from the CMD of Telangana State GENCO and TRANSCO D. Prabhakar Rao.
