Essar OHC registers 21% growth in Q1

Essar's iron ore handling complex in Visakhapatnam port (OHC) has achieved 21% growth in the first quarter of the current financial year, according to a press release.

The OHC handled 2.65 million tonnes in the first quarter as against 2.19 million tonnes in the first quarter of the preceding financial year. Essar group took over the OHC from the Visakhapatnam port in 2015 on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis, for a period of 30 years, investing ₹ 725 crore so far in upgrading the terminal till date.

Once fully upgraded, the terminal will be able to achieve a capacity of 8,000 TPH, one of the highest cargo handling rates in major ports in the country, adds the release.
