P. Ravindra, the accused who morphed the pictures of an engineering college student and reportedly raped her, was taken into custody amid high drama at the Bheemunipatnam court on Saturday.
Ravindra, who had been absconding ever since the case was reported in PM Palem police station, had secretly come to the Bheemunipatnam court to obtain anticipatory bail. On receiving information, a team led by PM Palem SHO S. Appalaraju reached the court. On seeing the police, Ravindra, who was carrying a bottle of cleaning liquid with him, consumed it. “We have sent him for treatment to a private hospital and placed him under surveillance,” said Mr. Appalaraju.
According to the police, Ravindra, a native of Mylavaram, near Vijayawada, had been booked by the Vijayawada CCS team in three theft cases and the PM Palem police in an assault case in 2013. Sources said he had been suspended by three colleges in Visakhapatnam — Pydah, Gayatri and Chaitanya.
Ravindra had approached the girl and told her that he had clicked her photos and morphed them with some nude pictures. He had coaxed her to go with him to a room under the pretext of giving her the pictures and reportedly raped her and filmed the act.
