The silence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Visakhapatnam MP Kambhampati Haribabu on the demand for declaration of the new railway zone in Andhra Pradesh with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters, even three years after coming to power, speaks volumes of their apathy towards the problems of the people, according to Praja Spandana president C.S. Rao.

Mr. Haribabu, Mr. Naidu and former Union Minister and present Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu had given a categorical assurance that the proposal was imminent.

The non-implementation of the promise amounted to ‘betrayal of the trust of the people’, Mr. Rao said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Mr. Haribabu had sent me a copy of his book on the progress made in the three years after he became an MP.

The book has picture of Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, in which he says that a railway zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam is imminent,” Mr. Rao said.

Former Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the State, had failed to do anything on the zone.
