Pushcart vendor arrested for ‘murder attempt’

The Three Town police arrested a 40-year-old person for allegedly attempting to murder a security guard and a blue colts constable at Siripuram here on Monday night.

The arrested was identified as P. Gowri Sai alias Gurrala Sai, a native of Gajuwaka and resident of Peda Gantyada area in Visakhapatnam.

According to Three Town Inspector G. Rama Rao, the accused had entered the VMRDA Children’s Arena with a pushcart on Monday night. When the security guard asked him to go away, he refused. After an altercation, security guard informed the Blue Colts. The security guard allegedly tried to push him out and assaulted him. Upset by this, Gowri reportedly took a knife and tried to attack him. Blue Colts constable, who was at the spot, tried to intervene. Gowri also allegedly tried to attack the constable. The accused was overpowered and booked under Section 307 of IPC.
