Pregnant woman hurt

May 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:09 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

A pregnant woman was injured in a freak accident at Maddilapalem bus depot, on Monday.

This was the second accident within a couple of days involving temporary drivers engaged by the government to run the APSRTC buses, ever since the corporation employees have gone on an indefinite strike.

The pregnant woman sustained injuries when the RTC bus in which she was travelling collided with another bus at the Maddilapalem depot. A pedestrian was killed by the RTC bus at Gajuwaka on Friday.

The family members alleged that the negligent driving by the temporary staff is the reason for the incident. However the condition of the women and the pregnancy is said to be safe. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where an emergency surgery had to be performed to remove some foreign body.

The injured was identified as V Mahalakshmi, a home maker and resident of Narsimhanagar.
