An action plan has been prepared to declare the district open defecation-free by March 2018, District Collector Pravin Kumar has said.

A total of 2.4 lakh toilets were yet to be constructed and this had to be planned for completion by February 2017 so that any toilet left over could be constructed by the end of March, he said at a one-day workshop on “Swachh Visakha” on Wednesday.

Special officers of Assembly constituencies, nodal officers, mandal development officers, extension officers and tahsildars participated.

All officials at mandal-level should concentrate on ODF status besides their regular work, Mr. Pravin Kumar said.

He was angry at some of the officials for not attending the workshop and said disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Joint Collector G. Srijana, Paderu ITDA Project Officer Ravi Pattanshetti, trainee collector Misha Singh, DWMA Project Director Kalyana Chakravarthi and Zilla Parishad CEO Jayaprakash participated.
