Vice-Chairman of Rajeev Yuva Kiranalu K.C. Reddy has exuded confidence that the new institution of the State government will achieve the goal of providing one lakh jobs to the youth by next January.
These one lakh jobs, of course, are in addition to the estimated 1.16 lakh regular jobs or vacancies identified by the government, he clarified during Prof. Bhavaraju Sarveswara Rao Memorial Oration at Gayatri Vidya Parishad Degree College Auditorium in MVP Colony on Friday evening. “It is a challenge and difficult task, but we will deliver. If we deliver, it will bring tremendous transformation in the rural economy, for, the Chief Minister wants one person from a family in which no one is currently employed. Giving Rs.10,000 or Rs.12,000 per month to the person will bring out tremendous transformation in rural economy,” he pointed out, adding that women were expected to take to employment which was significant since only 3 per cent of them were employed till date in the country.
Education and skill development would be imparted to the youth by identified trainers, providing the content and using technology, Prof. Reddy said. In this context, he recalled the words of his teacher Prof. Sarveswara Rao who wanted research in economics and social sciences to be purposeful with a direction and whatever we did should be transparent. “All of us are aware of the credibility dimension. The numbers must be realistic and as long as you deliver, there is no credibility problem. I will assure you we will not cut short in systems and procedures which will be transparent, institutionalised and sustained for long,” he stated.
In this effort, the government would look to the support of GVP, intellectuals of the city, industry and also Andhra University, he added.
Glowing tributes
Prof. Reddy joined the president of GVP and former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao and former Rector of Andhra University A. Prasanna Kumar in paying glowing tributes to Prof. Sarvesvara Rao on the latter's first death anniversary. Mr. Subba Rao described Prof. Sarvesvara Rao, the founder of GVP group of educational institutions, as a teacher of truth and a person who always strove for expansion of frontiers of knowledge. “GVP today honours the memory of this great founder, a source of inspiration not only to GVP but also to Andhra University which he served and all his students,” he said. Prof. Prasanna Kumar recalled that Prof. Sarveswara Rao was a product of Cambridge University and a disciple of Robinson. He introduced Prof. Reddy to the packed gathering who assembled to pay tributes to the GVP founder.
