Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) honoured officials from various departments here in recognition of their efforts to restore normalcy in a record time after Hudhud battered Visakhapatnam in October last.

The function held after AGM of VCCI was attended by District Collector N. Yuvaraj, Visakhapatnam Port Chairman M.T. Krishna Babu, RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director P. Madhusudan, Commissioner of Police Amit Garg, GVMC Commissioner K. Pravin Kumar and Visakhapatnam Stevedores Association president Krishna Kumar.

VCCI president K. Ramabrahmam recalled the devastation caused by Hudhud throwing normal life out of gear and thanked the authorities for the immediate response in clearing roads and restoring supply of essentials.

Mementoes were presented to each department through the dignitaries present. “The green cover lost is a huge loss and the city plans to continue planting in a big way. At least Rs.500 crore will be required to do so. About 1 lakh LED lights were installed,” Mr. Pravin Kumar said.
