A joint initiative launched by the State government, in association with J Charities and U.S.-based music school ‘Kachapi Swaradhara’ will now enable students of government schools to learn Carnatic music (vocal) online free of cost.

The programme was launched by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao with the release of a poster on ‘Kachapi Pravesika’, a three-month online music training programme, at the Zilla Parishad High School at Chandrampalem on Monday. He switched on the online projector room at the school after which ‘Kachapi Swaradhara’ founder director Lalitha Padmini began the class from the U.S. “S. Lalitha Padmini will conduct the online classes, in association with J Charities, an NGO. The government has signed an MoU with the music school in August this year . The process of equipping the government schools with the compatible technologies is under way,” the Minister said.

J Charities founder and film director Jagadeesh Daneti opined that apart from academic achievements, the art forms would contribute to the all-round development of students and called upon the students to make use of the opportunity.

‘Pravesika’ course

DEO Lingeswara Reddy said the ‘Pravesika’ course in basics of Carnatic music would be of a duration of three months. “Other schools will also be connected by fibre grid. Students completing the training and passing the course would be given certificates,” he said.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, TDP leader Lalam Bhaskar Rao and ‘J’ Charities managing trustee Sharmila Devi were present.
