HRD Minister releases DSC results

June 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:03 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

It is unfortunate that mistakes have crept into the final key of the Teachers Eligibility Test-Teachers Recruitment Test (TET-TRT), Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said.

Speaking after releasing the results here on Tuesday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao directed the officials of the department to examine the reasons for the same and initiate action against erring personnel.

The final key should have cleared all doubts. But in the case of TET-TRT, as many as 1,838 queries had been received.

This forced the School Education Department to constitute an expert committee to look into the doubts. Following the direction of the Minister, the announcement of the results was postponed by a day.

After verification, 13 mistakes had been identified in nine subjects and they were all cleared.

Principal Secretary R.P. Sisodia said that interpretation of the question was also one reason. Citing an example of a question seeking the main issue of the State’s education policy, he said there were three main issues.

Candidates can get a copy of the OMR sheets by paying Rs. 20 at the Mee Seva counters between June 4 and July 3. The Minister said that the website of the Education Department would be launched soon.

‘Badi Pilustondi’ programme would be conducted for six days from June 15 and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would participate in the programme on one of the days in Vizianagaram district, he said.

Kadapa tops

Of the 3,68,161 candidates, who appeared for the test held from May 9 to 11, 37.57 per cent (1,38,344) have qualified. The districts that secured highest and lowest percentages of pass are Kadapa (42.56) and Prakasam (16.07) in the test for Schools Assistants (languages); Srikakulam (39.69) and Anantapur (25.80) in SA (non-languages) test; Nellore (37.71) and Prakasam (16.35) in Langugate Pundits test and Srikakulam (73.24) and Kadapa (47.99) in Secondary Grade Teachers. In PETs all districts, except Prakasam (99.17 per cent) scored cent percent.

The passed candidates are eligible for recruitment of 10,313 posts of teachers of different categories in 13 districts. The recruitment will be done district-wise by DSCs.

Lists of provisionally selected candidates would be sent to the districts by June 9 and the plan was to get the teachers posts filled by June 15 when the schools reopen, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.

Mr. Sisodia clarified that in spite of several efforts to allow B.Ed. graduates to appear for DSC, the National Council for Teachers Education, the national authority on teachers’ education did not relax its rules. Several States also sought relaxation. In case the Central government concedes the request, a special DSC would be held for B.Ed. graduates, the Minister said.

He said the TRT-TET went off smoothly. Only one case of malpractice was reported, in Srikakulam district and action was taken against MEO and teacher concerned. A few confusions at Anantapur and Visakhapatnam in distributing language papers were quickly cleared, he said

Government’s permission was awaited to fill up 860 posts of special teachers, Secretary (school education) K. Sandhya Rani.
