The silver jubilee of Madras Christian College Alumni Association’s Visakhapatnam Chapter will be celebrated in the city on November 1. Secretary of the chapter V.V. Subba Rao said that MCC had produced several educationists — three Vice-Chancellors for Andhra University — Sir Cattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who later became President, and K.R. Srinivasa Iyengar, besides first Vice-Chancellors of Sri Venkateswara University (Dr. S. Govindarajulu Naidu), Nagarjuna University (Dr. Nagabhushana Rao), and Sri Krishna Devaraya University (Dr. M. Abel).
Other illustrious personalities from the college, which has over 175 years of history, include another former President V.V. Giri, former AICC president Dr. Bhogaraju Pattabhi Seetaramaiah, freedom fighters — Konda Venkatappaiah and Raghupati Venkataratnam Naidu, ‘Mahakavi’ Sri Sri, and former Union Minister V. Kishore Chandra Deo.
The silver jubilee function will be held at ARDEE building housing Datsun car showroom near Dutt Island in Siripuram. MCC (Autonomous) Principal and Secretary RW Alexander Jesudasan, and faculty, besides members of the local chapter, will participate.
