Man arrested on charge of sending abusive SMS

The Cyber Crime Police have arrested two persons in different cases under the Steel Plant and Gajuwaka police station limits.

In the first case, a man was arrested on the charge of sending abusive SMS to G.N. Chandrasekhar Reddy living in Ukkunagaram around midnight on July 17, casting aspersions on the character of his wife.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Steel Plant police and the case was subsequently transferred to the Cyber Crime Police.

During the course of investigation, Inspector Ch. Penta Rao found the mobile phone used by the accused to contact his victim, the IMEI numbers, and SIM cards.

G. Hanuma, the accused, was arrested from his residence at China Gantyada on Tuesday. The mobile phone and SIM cards used in the commission of the crime were seized from him.

Credit card fraud

In the second case, a man approached the ICICI Prudential Life Insurance office at Old Gajuwaka on August 24 and sought details about insurance policies. He asked Dhru Sarin, who was at the desk, for water. Out of courtesy, he went in to fetch a glass of water for the guest. Later, Mr. Sarin received an SMS alert from HDFC Bank saying his card was swiped for Rs.12,159 and Rs.9,159. During the course of investigation, the Cyber Crime Police found that the accused B. Satya Prasad, who was a cashier at a petrol bunk at Kasimkota in the district, stole the wallet of Mr. Sarin as he went in to fetch water. He swiped the credit card at the petrol bunk for filling petrol in two vehicles and took the cash. The accused was arrested from his residence at Tallapalem in the district on Monday evening. Investigation is on.
