Logistic hub: displaced stage dharna for fair deal

October 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

People of eight villages in Anakapalle, Parawada, and Munagapaka mandals, whose lands are being acquired for the logistic hub planned in an extent of over 486 acres, have demanded that the Government hold a meeting with them and enter into a written agreement on compensation, employment, and other issues.

The Logistic Hub Displaced Persons Union staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Monday and submitted a memorandum to the Collector on their demands. The lands are in Venkatapuram, Ramanayudupeta, Tanam, Tadi, Valluru, Erukuvanipalem, Rajupalem, and Gorlivanipalem. The villagers said the government went ahead with survey and decided on quantity of compensation though the villagers were not willing to part with their lands. The villagers wanted the government to follow LA Act, 2013, and decide compensation according to the market rate.
