A line inspector of Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from a poultry farm owner at Dalivalasa village in K. Kothapadu mandal in Visakhapatnam district on Monday.

According to K. Ramakrishna Prasad, DSP (ACB), the line inspector, K. Appachi Babu, demanded bribe from one B. Srinivas for erecting a pole and fixing 11-kv high tension wire. The poles near the poultry farm had fallen and the lines were snapped during cyclone Hudhud that devastated the district. Srinivas lodged a complaint with the Assistant Engineer of APEPDCL at K. Kothapadu.

According to the complaint, in the last week of August, the line inspector approached the complainant and informed that as part of the pre-monsoon works the work would be taken up, but demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000.

Mr. Srinivas lodged a complaint with the ACB and the line inspector was trapped.
