Intraoperative MRI (i MRI) and advanced neuronavigation technology have made brain surgeries accurate and safe. The i MRI gives the most accurate real-time images of the brain, according to Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam and Dr. B.V. Savitr Sastri, senior neurosugeons at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad. A 3 T i MRI was installed at Yashoda Hospitals in Hyderabad.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Dr. Balasubramaniam and Dr. Sastri said over 150 complicated brain surgeries were done in the last few months with 100 % success rate. In 90 % of the patient, there was total removal of tumours from the brain while in 10 % of the cases, residual tumours were still left behind after the surgery.
