Braving the scorching heat, G. Venkat Rao, a retired employee of the APEPDCL and a resident of Anakapalle, took a pen and a paper to write an examination on Friday.

The last time he had written an examination was about 35 years ago. Neither his age nor the intense heat deterred him from going back to the basics and taking the examination.

It was not an examination conducted by any board, but the one held by the Jana Sena Party founded by actor Pawan Kalyan.

About 4,000 people, both young and old, and including women, from different walks of life made a beeline for the examination centre at Sri Krishna Vidya Mandir.

Speaking to The Hindu , JSP’s media head Haribabu said: “Everyone has some talent. Mr. Pawan Kalyan wants to utilise the talent for the development of people.”

The examination was held basically to ascertain the skills under three categories – oratory and presentation skills, content writing skills, and analytical skills.

According to Mahendra Reddy, vice-president of the party, there is no age limit to write the examination. The idea is to build a mechanism that would work as an effective delivery system.
