January 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The police on Thursday said that the 25-year-old woman who died under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday was murdered allegedly by her husband.

Sitamahalakshmi was found dead in her house in Pineapple Colony under Gopalapatnam Police Station limits on Wednesday morning.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (North Zone) Bhima Rao said that basing on a complaint filed by her parents the body was sent for post mortem and the case was investigated. The report confirmed that her spleen was ruptured due to external force.

“Her husband Suryanarayana, an employee in the Malaria Department of the GVMC, has confessed that he beat his wife on Tuesday night in a fit of rage under the influence of alcohol. But since the injury was internal, none realised what had happened and she appeared to have died in her sleep,” said Gopalapatnam Inspector Bala Surya Rao. The accused has been taken into custody and investigation is on.
