Income Tax Chief Commissioner S.K. Pathak has formally inaugurated the Ayakar Seva Kendra at the office of direct taxes here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the purpose of launching a special Seva Kendra was for ensuring a time-bound response to the grievances of tax payers and providing better services.
The Seva Kendra code named ‘Ayakar Sampark Kendra (ASK) will provide a unique identification number to the tax assesses which is a reference number given by ASK.
Mr. Pathak said that all queries relating to income tax returns, permanent account number and tax account number and other related problems would be computerised and attended to within the stipulated time frame. The Income Tax Board at the national-level will have access to the computer which feeds all public grievances in a given programme and basing on the ASK reference numbers will monitor the status of public grievances and will seek explanation from the officials concerned if a specific grievance redressal had been long pending.
He appealed to the general public particularly the tax payers to avail the hassle-free services of ASK. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (OSD) and ASK coordinator I. Suresh Babu and Income Tax deputy director (systems) P.K. Kar were present.
