A trip of a group of five students turned tragic after one of them drowned and another went missing at Bheemili beach on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Srinu (18), while missing youth is Naveen (17), both Intermediate first year students from Basara College and residents of Arilova. “The students came to Bheemili on Thursday evening. Three students were playing on the shore, while Naveen and Srinu went for a swim. They were pulled in by high tides,” said police inspector G. Srinivas.

Noticing their friends missing, he said, the other students alerted fishermen who started searching for them. The body of Srinu was traced after a while, while Naveen is still missing.

Police have registered a case.
