INHS Kalyani former clerk gets 4-year RI

CBI court convicts him in a bribery case

Third Additional Special Judge for CBI cases, Visakhaptnam G. Satya Prabhakara Rao on Thursday convicted a former clerk of INHS Kalyani, Malkapuram, in a bribery case and sentenced the latter to four years of rigorous imprisonment. The Judge also slapped a fine of ₹10,000.

In 2015, the convict, Angothu Srinu Nayak, the then Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Civilian Establishment (CE) Section, INHS Kalyani was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹1,200 from two persons who were working as civilian motor drivers in INHS Kalyani Hospital, for facilitating sanction and credit of the Hudhud Cyclone advance of ₹7,500 each in their favours, a release issued by the CBI said here.

After completion of the trial, the special court for CBI cases convicted Angothu Srinu Nayak and the Judge ordered that the sentences awarded to teh convict shall be running concurrently.

The convict has been sent to the Visakhapatam Central Prison.
