Industries vow for improving productivity

While focusing on challenges ahead, industries in and around the city on Monday called for concerted efforts for significant improvement in productivity.

As part of Republic Day celebrations at Visakh Refinery, HPCL Executive Director G. Sriganesh dwelt upon the projected economic growth and the likely issues that the country might face in near future. He stressed up on the World Energy demand and the role of alternate fuels in meeting it.

Mr. Sriganesh later presented the service awards to 119 employees who completed long years of HPCL, Visakha New White Oil Terminal location in-charge Satyanarayana unfurled the national flag and called for making Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao and other programmes a success.

BHEL-HPVP

At celebrations organised by Heavy Plate and Vessels Plant of BHEL, Executive Director J. Sankaran addressed the employees. Senior worker P. Appa Rao unfurled the tricolour.

A large number of employees along with families attended the function. On this occasion, Security, Fire Personnel, NCC Cadets, Scouts and Guides have performed march past besides cultural programmes presented by BHEL Secondary School and Telugu Medium School Children.

Mr. Sankaran distributed medals, cash awards and merit certificates to school children and special merit certificates to employees who volunteered in rescue and relief operations after Hudhud.

Mr. Sankaran said an order for Rs.9 crore was bagged from Aeronautical Development Agency for compact heat exchangers for LCA MK I.

DCI

At celebrations held by DCI, CMD Capt. D.K. Mohanty said the company achieved excellent rating in the MOU targets given by the Ministry of Shipping for 2013-14.

He said DCI had recently entered into MOU with the Administrations of Andamans and Daman and Diu to undertake dredging projects.

He commended the efforts of the housekeeping staff for timely action in minimising the damage and starting operations both pre and post Hudhud cyclone. Awards were distributed to the housekeeping staff in recognition of their work.

Visakha Container Terminal, NALCO, Coromondel and other industries also organised the celebrations in a befitting manner.

‘Bright future’

Taking part in Republic Day parade at Gandhigram, HSL CMD Rear Admiral N.K. Mishra said the yard had a bright future with efforts under way to shift from making low-tech bunkers to modern warships and submarines. One such vessel was already under construction.

Referring to Hudhud, he said the yard had not lost work on a single day due to committed workforce and mentioned how they proved the EKM team wrong in not getting dented by the damage caused by the cyclone.

He said Submarine Sindhukirti was undocked as per schedule immediately after Hudhud.
